I am only able to launch 28 simultaneous Robo-FTP services on Windows 2000
Robo-FTP Enterprise Edition allows you to run an unlimited number of simultaneous instances -- either launched as applications, services, or a combination of both.
However, by default Windows limits the number of services a user can launch.
- Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition - Runs approximately 75 services MAX
- Windows XP SP2 - Runs approximately 77 services MAX
- Windows 2000 SP4 - Runs approximately 28 services MAX
These numbers are approximate because there are additional factors that can affect the total number of services that Windows will allow on a particular system.
You will need to change a registry setting manually (using
regedit) to increase this limit.
WARNING: Edit the registry at your own risk.
Here is the registry key you will need to change:
This key has a value named
SharedSection that you will need to modify. Below are some example settings.
SharedSection=1024,3072,512,512 -- Default value - allows 28 services MAX SharedSection=1024,3072,256,256 -- Allows you to run 58 Services MAX SharedSection=1024,3072,128,256 -- Allows you to run 120 Services
After the MAX services running is reached, no other services will run under USER context. Services still can be run under the
LocalSystem account though.

Note: Robo-FTP version 3.8 and later does not run on Windows 2000
